Activities:   We will be reading, drawing, journal writing or drawing, planting, growing, and sharing together weekly in the garden.  The young gardeners will have their own garden space to work in, will eat lunch together each week, and take home vegetables to try from their own garden and the community garden as it grows.

Children need to wear clothing that can get dirty since we will be working in the dirt and if you purchase a pair of gardening gloves for your young gardener, put their name on them as they will stay at the garden.

What Do I Need to Bring- Put your Gardeners Name on all of their Items: A sack lunch that does not need to be kept cool, a reusable water bottle, 1 kitchen size trash bag or an inexpensive rug to sit on, leftover crayons and markers from the school year – small pieces are good, 5 pencils and 1 eraser, 1 pad (8 x 10 or 9 x 12) newsprint, 1 small plastic bucket and a poly garden trowel for working in their garden area. No flimsy plastic trowels please.

Cost: There is no cost for this program  and no membership requirement for this program.  It will be taught by a highly qualified certified Illinois educator.  If you wish to make a donation for items for the program to share with all young gardeners, please do as this program has no funding from any source at this point.
