Recycling in the Garden

Have you ever wondered what to do with those wonderful plastic utensils you get with a meal that doesn't really require them. Now... you have a brand new use for them as protection for your new plants in the garden. Make sure you plant them with the tines facing up and no animals or birds will land in the garden to mess up all your hard work. Start saving your aluminum pie pans or purchase a roll of aluminum foil from the $$ store to create shiny detractors for other pests that enjoy bothering new plants. Tie a string on a strip of aluminum foil, tie it onto toilet paper tube (empty of course) or paper towel tube and plant in the garden.. the wind will do the rest as the foil flips around in the breeze scaring away anyone who thought they would get a free meal from your garden. You can also use plastic spoons as your row markers using a Sharpie pen and writing what you planted and then plant the spoon at the end of the row. No more expensive row markers and you can save the spoons and forks and use them again next year. Have fun recycling in your garden.
