Village Farmers Market Losing Vendors for Lack of Customers

The New Douglas Village Market is losing vendors because there is not enough business to keep them coming to the market. Every Thursday from 4 - 7 p.m. under the New Douglas Township Park Pavilion we are holding a farmers market.

Beef sales were so poor that Ernst Family Farms will no longer be at the market but you can continue to buy beef from them at the farm. LD just did not get much interest in his woodworking items and he was and still is interested in building specific items that you can request from him.. If he is not at the market you can find him on North Main Street in New Douglas. We believe that the Tupperware ladies will most likely only be here one more time on July 7th because they are not even making enough to pay for gas. Berkert Meats will be here three weeks every month, we will still be ordering bread from B & K and beginning this week will have extra bread ordered available for you to purchase, The Family Garden will be offering vegetables and fruits and they also have grass fed beef for sale. The family from Sorento Share the Soap came for the first time last week and had some really wonderful soaps and skin care items. The concession stand will remain open on Thursdays and we will be working really hard to try to bring people to the market so that we might encourage other vendors to come to New Douglas. Just because this is having a terribly slow start - we will not give up and will continue to be there each week no matter who else comes. The Community Garden is beginning to produce and we will have kale this week and hopefully squash soon.

Support of local producers is crucial for them to make money and continue building their businesses. We are advertising from Litchfield to Highland and will start putting up signs with arrows to help you find us in the park on Thursdays. Please help us by supporting the market.
